ASTINDO AND DTCM HELD ASTINDO DUBAI VIRTUAL TRAVEL MART

ASTINDO again held a virtual business event (B2B), ASTINDO-DUBAI Virtual Travel Mart, Thursday (9/30). Bring together ASTINDO member travel agents and Dubai tourism industry players ahead of EXPO 2020.

According to the General Chairwoman of ASTINDO, Pauline Suharno, in a virtual press conference said, it is an honor for ASTINDO to be able to hold the ASTINDO-DUBAI Virtual Travel Mart with full support from Dubai Tourism (DTCM). This virtual B2B event demonstrates the strong collaboration between the Dubai government and the private sector of the Indonesian tourism industry.

“In the midst of the tough challenges faced by the tourism industry players over the last 1.5 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ASTINDO regularly holds webinars, training, virtual travel marts, in order to remain dynamic in their business and encourage tourism industry players to prepare destinations and tourism products,” said Pauline.

She explained, the ASTINDO-DUBAI Virtual Travel Mart is an arena for ASTINDO member travel agents to get the latest information from suppliers and experts in Dubai, who have not only opened the border for Indonesian citizens, but also hosted the Expo 2020 for 6 months.

“The ASTINDO-DUBAI Virtual Travel Mart event is a form of our concern for the existence of all ASTINDO members so that members can provide tourism products that are currently trending as well as awaken the national tourism industry,” Pauline noted.

Meanwhile, Saud Hareb, Assistant Manager, International operations, Dubai Tourism said Expo 2020, Dubai, which will open from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022, has been in preparation for 5 years. This world’s biggest show was postponed for 1 year due to the pandemic. Dubai has proven that in 5 years the desert has been transformed into the largest World Expo location where there are more than 200 participants including other countries including Indonesia.

“The opening ceremony will be held at night which will be attended by the invitees. The theme of Expo 2020 is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” with the sub-theme “Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability,” he said.
