ADMITTEDLY THERE IS NO CHSE DIRECTIVE TO BECOME AN OBLIGATION: SANDIAGA

THE INDONESIA’S Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno in the Weekly Press Briefing of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in Jakarta, Monday (10/4) said there was no directive that the concept of Cleanliness, Health, Safety, Environment sustainability (CHSE) was mandatory.

“The CHSE concept is voluntary in nature, in accordance with the initiatives of each tourism and creative economy organizer. As is known, there were some parties who had rejected CHSE being required for hotels and restaurants,” he said.

Sandiaga explained that after discussions between the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and industry, there appeared to be a misunderstanding regarding the issue. The term is less talking and less drink coffee (ngopi). The government actually expected CHSE standardization in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI).

Furthermore, it is said that CHSE has been borne by the government. In the future, it is hoped that business actors will gradually be able to adopt at a more affordable cost without lowering the level of standardization.

“Of course, we hope that CHSE with SNI will serve as a platform that guarantees validity and reliability,” Minister Sandiaga stated.

In addition, he revealed that the Indonesia Care program or an initiative from the tourism sector and Indonesia’s creative economy to make cleanliness, health, environmental safety a top priority, has been implemented and has become a trademark of Indonesia’s tourism recovery in the new normal era. Including, increasing international trust.

“We will continue to discuss and we will make sure that the standards of health, safety, and environmental sustainability will become the gold standard, will be the standards that we both adopt (namely) industry, government, and all pentahelix to encourage tourism in Indonesia to be of higher quality and sustainable,” he concluded.
