THE INDONESIA’S Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said that the Tourism Ministry revealed that technological innovation and collaboration with various stakeholders is the key to the recovery of the tourism industry.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno at the launch of the “Traveloka EPIC Sale” on Monday (10/4) said we believe that technological innovation and collaboration with various stakeholders can be the key for all of us to rise.
He said that this is because tourism is one of the sectors most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the book “Tourism Trends of the Ministry of Tourism 2021”, the number of global tourist arrivals has decreased drastically by 58% to 78%, hotel occupancy rates in Indonesia have decreased significantly from 56.73% to 28.07% during the period July 2019-July 2020.
“Therefore, innovation and collaboration from various parties is needed to restore the tourism industry and the creative economy after the COVID-19 pandemic. The vaccination program itself more or less affects people’s travel plans for travel. Based on the survey results of Traveloka users as of September 1, 2021, it is stated that vaccination is one of the considerations for traveling,” he stated.
Sandiaga added that of the 278 respondents who had taken the first dose of vaccination, he continued, 47% felt more confident to travel and 84 respondents who had fully vaccinated, 44% were more prepared to travel. The products that are in demand after users get the vaccine are domestic air tickets and hotels outside their domicile.
“Public interest in hotel staycations both inside and outside the domicile is also influenced by health protocols that implement Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE),” he noted.
Sandiaga also encouraged tourism industry players to apply CHSE standard health protocols to increase visitor interest.
“Of course, we hope to put forward the CHSE health protocol while supporting the Indonesia Care campaign at the same time this is in line with the hashtag #DiIndonesiaAja movement which is in line with the Tourism Ministry platform, namely Gercep, Geber, Gaspol. Gercep is moving quickly and not delaying. Geber is moving together exploit all the potential to generate and sustain the tourism industry. Gaspol is working on all potential job opportunities,” Sandiaga concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
