10 INVESTORS SUBMIT OF INTEREST IN BATAM-BINTAN BRIDGE INVESTMENT

A TOTAL of 10 domestic and foreign companies have returned Letters of Interest (LoI) in the Batam-Bintan Bridge construction project.

“There are 10 who returned the LoI,” said Director of Implementation of Road and Bridge Infrastructure Financing of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Reni Ahiantini while attending a Special Working Visit of Indonesia’s Commission V House of Representaves (DPR RI) in Batam, Riau Islands, Monday (10/4).

He said that initially there were 17 companies that expressed interest at the beginning of the market sounding. However, only 10 companies submitted LoI.

“Of the 10 copanies, three of them are Chinese companies and the others are state-owned and private companies. What is certain, will be seen at the auction,” he said.

He said after the readiness criteria were declared complete, the auction would be held. There are two auctions, government auction and investment. First quarter 2022 forecast for investment and government support in second quarter 2022.

At the same place, Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad stated that his party did not want to target the completion of the Batam-Bintan Bridge construction in a hurry.

“On the one hand, the PUPR Ministry must be careful, this bridge is a mega project. But it should not be too long,” he remarked.

On that occasion he expressed his wish for the project to be built immediately in order to support the investment that is currently booming in Batam and Bintan.
