SINGAPORE on Saturday (23/10) last week announced that it would relax COVID-19 testing and quarantine restrictions or stay-home notices (SHN) for several other countries, including Malaysia and Indonesia. The policy follows a review of the COVID-19 pandemic situation in these countries, Singapore’s Ministry of Health said.
Singapore ranks, Malaysia, Cambodia, Egypt, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Mongolia, Qatar, Rwanda, Samoa, Seychelles, South Africa, Tonga, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Vietnam, in Category III.
Starting at 23:59 on October 26, all travelers from Category III countries can undergo a 10-day quarantine at their residence or hotel, regardless of their vaccination status and travel history.
“They will no longer have to undergo quarantine in special SHN facilities,” Singapore’s Ministry of Health said in a statement, as quoted by Channel News Asia.
However, travelers from Category III countries must remain at their stated residence or hotel during quarantine, and wear electronic monitoring devices.
“Action will be taken against those who violate the requirements of the SHN or make false statements,” the Ministry of Health said.
In addition, all travelers from Category III countries no longer need to undergo polymerase chain reaction or PCR testing upon arrival.
Instead, they will only undergo a PCR test after undergoing quarantine. Travelers also no longer have to undergo rapid antigen testing on the third and seventh day after their arrival during the quarantine period. [sources/photo special]
