MALAYSIA wants to provide the best healthcare travel experience for medical travelers by launching the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Industry Blueprint 2021-2025, a guiding document for the future healthcare industry.
Pioneered by the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC), this blueprint created by the healthcare industry is used as a guiding document for stakeholders in providing the best healthcare travel experience Malaysia will provide by 2025.
“The time has come to shift a greater focus on public health, apart from COVID-19, and move forward to support the backbone of Malaysia’s economy,” Malaysian Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said during the online launch of the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Industry Blueprint on Monday (11/1).
Khairy explained the blueprint launched today aims to make Malaysia a leading tourist destination and provide guidance for the healthcare industry. This blueprint aims to enhance the existing healthcare travel ecosystem, strengthen the Malaysia Healthcare brand, and broaden the introduction of healthcare offered by Malaysia to the targeted market.
The strategy of this blueprint includes improving the quality of medical care, digitizing patient travel, continuing efforts to become the world’s leading destination providing affordable medical offerings to medical travelers, elevating the offerings offered by Malaysia by demonstrating hospitality as a safe and trusted health and leisure destination.
Khairy said, for every plan and aspiration that has been presented today, everyone should remember that the ultimate goal is to build a sustainable future for the health care system.
“As a collective effort is currently underway to turn Malaysia into an endemic phase, of course all industries also need to implement this blueprint with the advantages they have,” he noted.
He suggested better cross-border healthcare collaboration and encouraged countries to work together more efficiently to deliver sustainable healthcare globally.
As a government agency that has been trusted to continue the development of the healthcare travel industry, MHTC hopes to encourage stronger public-private collaboration, this has been MHTC’s success factor behind Malaysia Healthcare’s growth. Along with the investment made by the government in this industry, MHTC partners with major players from the private sector such as health care, wellness, hospitality, tourism to transportation.
Malaysia Healthcare Travel Industry Blueprint 2021-2025 is a guide to the recovery of the health industry which is transitioning to endemicity, this can be seen from the collaboration between public and private institutions which has proven the support provided in the growth of Malaysia Healthcare so far.
Malaysia Healthcare’s continued success will be proven through empowering industry players who run it and in line with the blueprint, where they will be at the forefront with the advantages of their respective roles.
The implementation of the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Industry Blueprint 2021-2025 is divided into two main phases, in which the healthcare travel experience will be the main focus.
The Recovery Phase takes place in 2021-2022 to strengthen knowledge of Malaysia Healthcare’s world-class quality offerings and enhance the patient experience through digitalization efforts.
While the Rebuild phase in 2023-2025 is a phase where industry players can work together collectively to strengthen knowledge about Malaysia Healthcare’s special offers, such as the Fertility Hub of Asia, Cardiology Hub of Asia, and Cancer Care Center of Excellence.
MHTC also created the Flagship Medical Tourism Hospital Program to further strengthen Malaysia’s position as a leading healthcare destination, as well as develop Malaysia as a destination for life in retirement. [antaranews/photo special]
