TOURISM village is one of the Indonesian government’s programs for sustainable tourism development which is expected to accelerate the revival of tourism and trigger economic growth.
However, during the pandemic, the tourist village, which is one of the alternative tourisms, has been affected several times by restrictions on social mobility, especially due to the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM).
One of the tourist villages in Garut Regency, Sindangkasih Tourism Village, had closed its tourism due to government recommendations and prohibitions, especially when the number of COVID-19 cases was high.
According to Dedi Sopandi, the manager of Sindangkasih Village, the Sindangkasih Tourism Village is completely closed. When PPKM was implemented and could not accept visits from tourists, business actors and managers of the Sindangkasih Tourism Village had experienced heavy losses, due to the absence of income for a long time.
This also happened to a tourist village in Kulon Progo Regency, Tinalayah Tourism Village, which survived by using the remaining cash remaining for village operations, due to the absence of tourist visits during the pandemic.
“There is also limited self-help, as well as mutual cooperation efforts to maintain facilities and infrastructure during the pandemic. The unmatched spirit is the motto of Dewi (tourist village) Tinalah during the pandemic,” explained Galuh Fahmi, the manager of the Tinalah Tourism Village.
However, with the condition of the declining number of cases, and the relaxation of mobility that has been implemented, Galuh said that the Tinalah Tourism Village is ready to reopen its tourism, of course with the implementation of health protocols.
According to him, currently the Tinalayah Tourism Village has prepared facilities and infrastructure for cleanliness, health, safety, environmental sustainability (CHSE) such as a place for washing hands, hand sanitizers, automatic temperature thermometers, checking the location of protection care applications, and orderly activities during the pandemic.
“Dewi Tina is one of the tourist villages in Kulon Progo Yogyakarta who has been given the opportunity to carry out operations in accordance with SE Number 556/173 concerning the opening of tourist destinations in Kulon Progo Regency,” he said.
Similarly, the Sindangkasih Tourism Village manager also explained that Sindangkasih Village has reopened by implementing strict health protocol rules, such as the 5M principle, namely washing hands, wearing masks, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds, and reducing mobility.
“All tourism managers are required to follow the vaccination program,” added Dedi.
Dedi added that currently the management of the Sindangkasih Tourism Village has reopened visits with a capacity of 25% and tourists need to show a vaccination card. According to him, visits will continue to be limited until the PPKM is completed.
For the preparation of the Tinalah Tourism Village, Galuh also said that currently he has carried out internal coordination for strengthening and readiness of tour package packages, checking infrastructure, and developing packages that are in accordance with the pandemic period, as well as a visitor capacity of 25%.
In fact, according to him, the effect of the current easing is that there are requests for activities, both from travel tours, agencies, schools, and campuses for tourism activities, workshops, and comparative studies.
With conditions that are not 100% safe, and the potential for tightening still exists, Galuh explained that in the Tinalah Tourism Village there are value-added innovation efforts, such as sales of MSME product hampers and the creative economy from Tinalah Tourism Village.
Meanwhile, if there is another tightening in the Sindangkasih Tourism Village, Dedi said that there are no other efforts that can be done, because they can only carry out maintenance and arrangement of tourist facilities even though they are independent from the community.
