MALAYSIA PLANS TO WELCOME FOREIGN TOURISTS STARTING JANUARY 2022

MALAYSIA plans to receive visits from international travelers no later than January 1, 2022 to accelerate the recovery of the tourism sector. The announcement was made by the Chairman of the National Recovery Council (NRC) Malaysia, Muhyiddin Yassin, on Thursday (11/11).

“Taking into account the good vaccination rate in the country, today the NRC has decided that the country’s borders will be opened to international visitors on January 1, 2022,” he said, quoted from channelnewsasia.com.

He explained that the recovery of the tourism sector in the country was slow without foreign tourists.

Reporting from cnn.com, infection control protocols such as COVID-19 testing will continue to be carried out. The authorities will also impose a number of provisions for foreign tourists who will enter Malaysia, one of which is based on the COVID-19 situation and conditions in the tourists’ home countries.

It was previously reported that Singapore and Malaysia will launch a Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) travel corridor starting November 29, 2021. This step is an effort to gradually reopen the borders of the two countries. [sources/photo special]
