PUBLIC IS ADVISED TO OBEY THE MOBILITY RULES AHEAD OF THE HOLIDAY SEASON

INDONESIA’S Ministry of Communication and Information, Johnny G. Plate appealed to the public to comply with the latest regulations regarding mobility during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

“The key is in strengthening 3T (testing, tracing, and treatment), 3M (wearing masks, maintaining distance and diligently washing hands), vaccination and the use of PeduliLindungi,” said Johnny, quoted from a press release, Thursday (11/25).

Through the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) No. 62/2021, the government prioritizes public health in anticipating increased mobility during the December holiday season.

“This regulation is also an effort to prevent and overcome the transmission of COVID-19 during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Public safety and health are the top priority,” said Johnny.

This rule applies from December 24 to January 2, 2022, the government expects the public to comply with this policy and not be careless. The slightest negligence can lead to an increase in COVID-19 cases.

Especially for Christmas worship, Johnny asked the public to do it simply. It is hoped that the number of people who can participate in worship activities in congregation does not exceed 50% of the total capacity of the church.

“This restriction is temporary. It is not in the interest of the government, but to protect the health of all Indonesian people,” said Johnny.

Broadly speaking, the regulation of community activities in this regulation is the same as the level three regulations for the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM), plus a number of things to anticipate the Christmas and New Year holidays.

People are advised not to travel and return to their hometowns except for essential or urgent needs. Supervision of health protocols will be strengthened in three places, namely churches or places that function as places of worship for Christmas celebrations, shopping areas and tourist attractions. The rules used are PPKM level three.

The government prohibits leave during the Christmas and New Year holiday period for State Civil Apparatus (ASN), Indonesia National Army (TNI) and Indonesia National Police (Polri), State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and private employees.

Arts, culture and sports activities will be suspended from December 24 to January 2, 2022. The regional square is closed from December 31 to January 1, 2022. The government also prohibits New Year’s parades and processions that can cause crowds.

Shopping centers are allowed to open from 09.00 to 22.00 local time with the condition of 50% capacity, using the PeduliLindungi application and implementing strict health protocols. Places to eat in shopping centers are allowed with a maximum capacity of 50%. Cinemas are also allowed to open with a maximum capacity of 50% and strict health protocols. [antaranews]
