TOURIST businesses are able to prepare strategies for the year-end holiday season because the government was earlier in announcing the implementation of level 3 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) during the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year holiday periods.
According to the Head of Human Resources Training for the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI), Alexander Nayoan, said that it was different from last year only a few days earlier, so we can already prepare to start making the right and correct sales strategy.
Alexander is optimistic that 2022 will provide new hope for the tourism industry if actors such as hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions are given time to adapt to the new rules.
The public is also advised to continue to apply health protocols and not neglect to wear masks, maintain distance, wash hands with soap and running water and stay away from crowds to reduce the risk of transmission of the COVID-19 virus.
Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno some time ago conveyed that the policy for the implementation of Level 3 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) during the 2021-2022 Christmas and New Year (nataru) celebrations was not to prohibit tourism business operations and activities.
This policy limits the operations and activities of business/tourism destinations both in terms of operational time, visitor capacity, and strict application of health protocols during the celebration of Christmas and New Year’s 2021-2022.
The policy of implementing PPKM Level 3 simultaneously in all regions is said to be only temporary in an effort to anticipate a spike in cases and the potential for a third wave of COVID-19.
The long holiday period is a challenge in controlling COVID-19 in the country because it is always followed by increased mobility and community activities which can lead to an increase in cases.
In the 2021 Idul Fitri holiday, for example, there was a more than 12-fold increase in daily cases. Therefore, the government hopes that the public can accept and comply with the PPKM Level 3 policy in the period of Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022. [antaranews/photo special]
