OMICRON SPREADS, THIS IS THE LATEST INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL RULES

THE MINNISTRY of Transportation conveyed a number of information updates related to the handling of international travel via air transportation in line with the outbreak of reports of new cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

This is in line with reports of new cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in a number of countries, including Indonesia’s neighboring countries such as Singapore and Malaysia.

According to the Director General of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transportation, Novie Riyanto, explained that this was a follow-up to the addendum to the Circular Letter (CL) COVID-19 Task Force No.23/2021. In addition, the Ministry of Transportation has also issued CL No.106/2021.

“To control the spread of this virus as much as possible. This means that we must be able to prevent the third wave from occurring internationally and domestically,” he said, Saturday (12/04).

In more detail, the following are a number of points of change in Ministry of Transportation CL No.106/2021. Changed quarantine outside 11 countries from 7 days to 10 days. Then, changing the PCR requirements for foreign aircraft personnel, from 7X24 hours to 3X24 hours.

Then, he added provisions for mandatory PCR tests upon arrival for foreign aircraft personnel. The validity period of this policy begins on December 3, 2021.

Novie emphasized that the Ministry of Transportation also continues to coordinate with many parties related to field monitoring. Given the widespread spread of Omicron, the decision to limit it involves not only the Ministry of Transportation, but also the COVID-19 Task Force, Immigration, and others. [antaranews/photo special]
