THE WORLD is currently worried about the spread of the omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus. This condition causes the government to be wary.
Quoting from indonesia.go.id, related to this, the Government has issued the latest rules regarding the latest quarantine period for people returning from abroad during the COVID-19 pandemic. This policy was issued through an Addendum to the Circular Letter of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force.
The latest policy refers to the Addendum to Circular Letter number 23 of 2021 concerning International Travel Health Protocols during the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic. The addendum to this Circular was stipulated in Jakarta, Thursday (12/02) and signed by the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency as the Head of the COVID-19 Task Force, Lt. Gen. Suharyanto.
Here are the new rules:
1. Based on the Addendum to the Circular Letter above, the latest Covid-19 quarantine period is valid for 10 days. This policy is effective from Friday (12/03) until an undetermined time. This is used by the government to evaluate quarantine period policies related to the latest COVID-19 pandemic and the rate of spread of corona virus cases.
2. All people who return from abroad, both Indonesian citizens (WNI) and foreign nationals (WNA) must follow several requirements: (1). People who have just arrived from abroad must carry out repeated swab tests for the rapid test (RT) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR), (2). Then must undergo quarantine for 10 x 24 hours, (3). Meanwhile, the heads of foreign representatives and families serving in Indonesia must self-quarantine at their respective homes for 10 x 24 hours.
3. Provisions for Indonesian citizens and foreigners who will perform the second RT-PCR test are as follows: (1). Day 9 of quarantine for foreign travelers with a total quarantine time of 10 x 24 hours, (2). The 13th day of quarantine for foreign travelers with a total quarantine time of 14 x 24 hours.
4. There are several other rules regarding foreigners who want to enter Indonesia. This refers to the Circular of the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 number 23 of 2021. Foreign nationals are temporarily prohibited from entering Indonesia, either those who live directly abroad or who just transit in a foreign country within a period of 14 days.

It has been confirmed the presence of a new variant of SARS-CoV-2 B.1.1.529 in countries such as South Africa, Botswana and Hong Kong. Foreign countries that are geographically close to the transmission country for the new variant B.1.1.529 are Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini, and Lesotho.
5. Foreigners may enter Indonesia with the following conditions: (1). Do not have a history of traveling or living in a foreign country that has been mentioned previously within 14 days, (2). In accordance with the provisions in the Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights number 34 of 2021 concerning the Granting of Immigration Visas and Stay Permits in the Period of Handling the Spread of COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery, (3).
