THE NATIONAL Airline Association (INACA) assessed that an interesting phenomenon occurred in national flights during the COVID-19 pandemic, indicating that the air transportation market remains attractive and is expected to recover soon.
“Due to the pandemic, many national airlines have stopped operating or reduced their production capacity, but on the other hand, many new airlines have emerged with good performance. This is an interesting phenomenon,” said INACA Chairman Denon Prawiraatmadja in a written statement in Jakarta, Tuesday (12/07).
This was conveyed when INACA in collaboration with aircraft manufacturing company Boeing held a virtual Fleet Planning Workshop.
It is said, the pandemic that has lasted for approximately 2 years has had a very large impact on the air transportation sector in Indonesia. As a result of restrictions on community mobilization to inhibit the spread of the Corona virus, the impact on the number of aircraft passengers has decreased, and ultimately has an impact on airline revenues.
Airline companies must carry out various recovery efforts that will have an impact on the sustainability of their business to continue to provide transportation services. Effective and efficient resource management is one of the efforts to reduce costs, so that business continuity is maintained.
Denon stated that the workshop was very relevant to the current national aviation conditions, considering that the reduced number of fleets required good management to be able to meet the demands of the passenger and cargo market.
“Thus, flight operations can run effectively, efficiently and airlines can get good income as a provision for post-pandemic growth,” he said.
According to the INACA white paper in collaboration with Padjadjaran University, Indonesia’s domestic flights will begin to recover in 2022 and optimally as before the pandemic in 2024. Meanwhile, international flights are predicted to start internationally in 2023 and optimally in 2026. [antaranews/photo special]
