TRAVEL insurance is predicted to increase in 2022 in line with the improving tourism trend this year. Insurance plays an important role in any situation, so it is necessary to develop a complete travel insurance, both for individual and group trips.
According to the chairman of the Indonesian Tourism Industry Association (GIPI) Didien Junaedi, said tourism trends have changed since the COVID-19 pandemic. One of them, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy prioritizes aspects of quality over quantity in the tourism sector, or quality tourism and not quantity tourism. Improving health protocols and insurance is the answer to this.
“The tourism industry is starting to show a recovery. This can be seen, among other things, from the increasing public interest in traveling. Data from the Association of Indonesian Travel Companies (ASITA) recorded an increase of up to 40% in travel bookings by local tourists, or twice as much as before the restrictions on mobilization were relaxed,” he said.
He explained, however, that despite recovering, tourism trends have changed compared to before the COVID-19 pandemic.
“With the security aspect becoming a priority, the demand for travel insurance with more protection is also increasing. Travel insurance is considered to provide a sense of security and confidence in facing risks in the midst of uncertain pandemic conditions,” he noted.
