THE IMPLEMENTATION of the Java-Bali Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) has been extended for the next three weeks until January 3, 2022.
The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment as well as the Java-Bali PPKM Coordinator Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said at a press conference in Jakarta, Monday (12/13) that although it was extended, the trend of COVID-19 cases was still maintained at a fairly low level.
“At this time the number of confirmed cases can still be maintained and the decline is still at 99 percent since the peak of cases last July. In addition, it can also be conveyed that active cases and the number being treated in Java-Bali continues to decline,” he said.
Based on the results of the assessment until December 11, 2021, there are only 10 regencies/cities in Java Bali that are at Level 3 or 7.8% of the total 128 regencies/cities in Java Bali. There are also 13 regencies/cities that have entered Level 1. However, there are 4 regencies/cities that have moved up to Level 2.
“Details regarding this information will be conveyed through the Ministry of Home Affairs which will be valid for the next three weeks,” Luhut stated.
The Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPC PEN) reminded the public not to go abroad first except for truly emergency interests.
According to him, the appeal was conveyed by the government in response to the development of the Omicron variant that is spread throughout the world.
Instead, he asked people to prefer to spend their vacation time by traveling within the country.
“So, let’s not be arrogant, help our economy by vacationing in the country,” Luhut concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
