MINISTER of Communications and Information, Johnny G. Plate stated that the government will regulate and control the mobility and socio-economic activities of residents to avoid a spike in COVID-19 cases through the Addendum to Circular Letter (CL) number 24 of 2021 towards the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year holidays.
“The addendum is entitled “Regulation of Community Activities and Mobility During the Christmas and New Year Periods During the COVID-19 Pandemic”. The government continues to try to handle COVID-19 with the principle of controlled gas and brakes,” Johnny said in his statement.
The Circular is intended to regulate mobility and control socio-economic activities of the community during holidays at the end of the year.
Johnny gave an example of one that is regulated, such as temporary mobility restrictions for travelers aged over 17 years who do not have the full dose of vaccine due to medical reasons or have not received the full dose of vaccine.
Another example is that long-distance travelers using all modes of transportation are required to show a complete vaccine card (second dose vaccination) and a negative rapid antigen test result whose sample is taken within a maximum period of 1 time 24 hours before departure as a travel requirement.
The regulation also states that the provision for testing and full-dose vaccination is excluded for routine trips by private or public vehicles, and trains in one area or urban agglomeration area including pioneering modes of transportation including in border areas, 3T areas (Lagging, Frontier, and Outermost), and limited shipping.
Furthermore, Johnny said that especially for logistics vehicle trips and other goods transportation in the Java and Bali islands, they are required to show a complete vaccine dose card and a certificate of negative rapid antigen test result.
Meanwhile, specifically for logistics vehicle trips and other goods transportation outside the Java and Bali islands, they are required to show a certificate of negative rapid test antigen results whose samples were taken within a maximum of 1 time 24 hours before departure and are excluded from the provision of showing a vaccine card.
On the other hand, long-distance travelers under the age of 12 using all modes of transportation are required to show a negative RT-PCR result whose sample is taken within a maximum of 3 times 24 hours before departure as a travel requirement and is excluded from the requirement for a vaccination card.
“The addendum is effective December 24, 2021 until January 2, 2022. It is emphasized that the government asks the public to comply with these rules for the common good. All parties are asked to work hard to prevent a spike in cases, therefore I ask for cooperation from all parties so that the pandemic can be controlled and Everyone can move safely and comfortably,” he said.
He concluded, the authorities will continue to monitor the implementation of the rules and will take strict action if there are violations. [antaranews]
