AFTER launching PaxelRecycle, a waste pick-up and management service, Paxel continues its commitment to building habits about caring for the environment.
According to Rezka Ilhamsyah, EVP Growth & Marketing at Paxel, one of the wastes generated from online shopping is cardboard. With an estimated 6 million packages per day in Indonesia, imagine how much cardboard waste each house produces. Consumption of cardboard materials that cannot be recycled continuously will increase the carbon footprint which has an impact on global warming.
“For Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Paxel cooperates with PT. Alpha Gemilang Makmur (ALVAboard) presents a solution, namely eco-friendly cardboard that is food grade, reusable and water resistant. With a stronger structure, I believe this can be an option for delivering food products, including frozen, fresh, and cold food – in fresh condition, safe for consumption, and without polluting the environment if managed properly,” Rezka said.
Rezka explained, in addition to being used again to send packages, ALVAboard eco-friendly cardboard can also be used as a storage place for goods, to replace old cardboard that has been damaged or affected by termites. Another benefit of using this new cardboard is that ALVAboard is ready to buy used cardboard from customers to avoid waste ending up in the landfill and not being managed properly.
However, Rezka invites sellers to start making packaging and environmental care a new habit. The importance of food grade is to protect food from bacteria, fungi, and also the outside temperature that is prone to spoiling.
“Starting responsibly with what is sent to the buyer, even though it looks small but will have a very good impact on the earth, nature, and our families in the future. Paxel as part of the online shopping ecosystem – will continue to educate the importance of building this awareness,” said Rezka.
Meanwhile, the CEO of PT Alpha Gemilang Makmur (ALVAboard), Alden Lukman said, the application of using ALVAboard eco-friendly cardboard is our effort to educate the public to take part in maintaining a better environmental sustainability.
