THE STORY BEHIND CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS THAT HAVE SPECIAL MEANINGS

RED AND GREEN color decorations are an integral part of Christmas celebrations, from fir trees, Santa’s socks to lights.

However, these Christmas symbols have a special meaning and have become a tradition since ancient times. The following are some of the meanings and stories behind the decorations commonly used at Christmas, quoted by Good House Keeping.

Wreaths
Christmas wreaths or wreaths in the shape of a circle are usually placed in front of the entrance.

In Northern Europe, pagans believed that the sun was a wheel that rolled off the Earth during the winter, and decorated their homes with wheels decorated with greenery and lights to coax the sun back toward them during the winter solstice.

When they began to convert to Christianity, the wreath became a new symbolism. The green and unbroken circle reminded them of God’s undying love and the salvation that Jesus brought to the world. [antaranews/photo special]
