THE GIANT MERGER IN THE US TODAY, BETWEEN AMERICA ONLINE AND TIME WARNER

AMERICA Online or commonly referred to as AOL is a mass media company from the United States. AOL has a media business that spans from the distribution of digital content, digital content products, to digital content services. Meanwhile, Time Warner is a mass media company and entertainment conglomerate from the United States.

Historically, AOL and Time Warner are two companies that have a reputation for high-end business in the entertainment world. Until finally, a big thing happened on January 10, 2000. At that time, AOL decided to merge with Time Warner.

Quoted from imaa-institute.org, Monday, January 10, 2022, AOL and Time Werner merged with AOL, disbursing funds reaching US$164 billion and AOL owns 55% of the shares of the merged company.

After the merger, AOL’s ISP declined drastically and in 2004, Time Warner split the music assets of the Warner Music Group into a public company. Finally, the income of Time Warner increased dramatically in 2005.

On May 28, 2009, Time Warner with AOL decided to discontinue operations and will release the two as independent companies in the United States. This release marks the end of the merger between AOL and Time Warner. [sources/photo special]
