HALIM AIRPORT WILL BE OFFICIALLY CLOSED FROM JANUARY 26th, 2022

THE MINISTRY of Transportation officially announced the temporary closure of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport (Halim Airport), Jakarta on January 26, 2022. The closure was carried out as a follow-up to the issuance of Presidential Regulation Number 9 of 2022 concerning Revitalization of Indonesian National Army Base Facilities.

“The estimated closing time is 3.5 months at the most. To improve land and air side facilities, in order to improve aspects of flight safety, security and comfort,” said Ministry of Transportation Spokesperson Adita Irawati, quoted in a statement on Saturday, January 22, 2022.

She said, since a few months ago, the Ministry of Transportation together with the Indonesian Air Force have coordinated with stakeholders in order to anticipate the impact of the cessation of flight service operations at Halim Airport.

The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has asked airport operators and airlines to prepare steps for handling passengers, such as flight cancellations, ticket refunds, flight route diversions, and others.

“We also urge people who have purchased plane tickets with departures through Halim Airport to contact the airline so that the next handling process will be carried out,” said Adita.

Meanwhile, developments carried out on the air and land sides include repairing runways and runways, increasing the capacity of the Naratetama and Naratama aircraft parking runways.

Then, renovation of the Naratetama and Naratama buildings, renovation of operating buildings, improvement of the drainage system in the airport, and arrangement of other facilities.

Meanwhile, during the revitalization process, airport operations will be relocated to Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Husein Sastranegara Airport, Kertajati Airport, Budiarto Airport, and Pondok Cabe Airport. [antaranews/photo special]
