THE MINISTER of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono allocated IDR576.8 billion for the Mandalika Area Arrangement in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) in order to welcome the 2022 MotoGP event.
“Restructuring the Mandalika Area in NTB with an allocation of IDR 576.8 billion to welcome the MotoGP international motorcycle racing event,” Minister Basuki said at a Working Meeting with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Jakarta, Tuesday (1/25).
According to the Minister of PUPR, these activities include the construction of Phase II of the BIL-Mandalika Bypass Road, the widening of the Kuta-Keruak Road. In addition, the Mandalika Area Arrangement also includes the arrangement of the Mandalika Area corridor, as well as the construction of flood control in the Mandalika Area.
Previously, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that the arrangement of the BIL – Mandalika Bypass Road in the context of welcoming the 2022 MotoGP must prioritize aesthetics through reforestation activities and structuring road corridors so that they are more environmentally friendly and can serve as examples of good national roads.
The arrangement of the BIL-Mandalika Bypass corridor includes planting grass and trees, including bougenvile, tabebuya, ketapang Kencana, and pule in the median of the road. Next is the handling of the slow lane through backfilling, planting grass and trees, such as the types of Trembesi, Angsana, Pule, and Teak.
The 17.3 km BIL-Mandalika Bypass Road has been completed and is being used to support the smooth running of the Superbike event in November 2021.
The arrangement is carried out by the Ministry of PUPR through the West Nusa Tenggara National Road Implementation Center (BPJN), the Directorate General of Highways through reforestation and structuring of road corridors, including frontage, shoulders and drainage. [antaranews/photo special]
