INDONESIA’S tourism revenue is predicted to continue to rise after the COVID-19 pandemic. Tour trips within a country by foreign tourists inbound tourism in Indonesia continued to rise constantly in 2010-2019, until before the pandemic occurred
According to Traveloka VP of Commercial, John Safenson in a webinar, Wednesday (2/08) said this shows there is hope, tourism will definitely rise again. The shift in travel trends after the pandemic hit the world, including the factors that influence consumers in booking accommodation. It’s not just a matter of price, cleanliness is now a major consideration because people are looking for a safe place for their health.
“During the COVID pandemic, cleanliness and promotion are the biggest factors for consumers to book accommodation. Accommodations that meet hygiene standards are generally more in demand by travelers who are currently concerned with health in the midst of a virus that affects life in the world,” he said.
John explained, the health protocols have been implemented by many platform partners, but there are still those who need help to promote it so that consumers know that the accommodation they are looking for is guaranteed clean and safe.
On the other hand, promotion through discounted prices is still an attractive factor for consumers. Moreover, people’s purchasing power has also decreased due to the pandemic. In order to support the recovery and development of local tourism, Traveloka held an Epic Sale 2021 which was attended by 6 million users and 83,500 local partners including Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Traveloka noted that in-city staycation searches increased by 220% compared to before the pandemic period. Meanwhile, the increase in traffic on Traveloka Xperience during the promo period reached 170% and the increase in the number of orders for Xperience partners during the promotion period reached 250%.
This travel agency is also implementing innovations in the form of other services outside of tourism, including food ordering, which will expand its reach, not only in Greater Jakarta, Bandung and the island of Bali. [antaranews/photo special]
