NO MOTOGP PARTICIPANTS, CREW AT MANDALIKA EXPOSED TO COVID-19

NONE of the riders and crew of the 2022 MotoGP pre-season test at the Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, had so far tested positive for COVID-19, an official stated.

“Thank God, all crew and riders of the 2022 MotoGP pre-season test are not exposed to COVID-19,” field coordinator for the preparation of the 2022 MotoGP Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, Air Marshal (Ret.) Hadi Tjahjanto, remarked while reviewing the circuit recently.

Tjahjanto noted that the safety of the crew and riders was ensured through the implementation of a strict travel bubble, starting from the arrival gate of Lombok International Airport to the lodgings as well as the circuit.

“In addition, amid the implementation of the event, only the crew and riders are allowed to enter the circuit’s paddock area,” he stated.

Furthermore, Tjahjanto remarked that the crew and riders were required to undergo PCR swab tests before starting their activity at the paddock area for the pre-season test event held for three days on February 11-13, 2022.

All shuttle vehicle drivers and lodging employees, who serve the MotoGP crew and riders, are also necessitated to undergo PCR swab tests.

“We will continue to tighten monitoring of the implementation of health protocols. Hence, everyone is required to undergo the COVID-19 test. We also take samples from residents around the circuit to be tested,” the field coordinator stated.

The government will also implement the travel bubble mechanism during the implementation of the 2022 MotoGP Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia on March 18-20, 2022, to be conducted for two weeks after the first round of the 2022 MotoGP held at the Losail International Circuit in Doha, Qatar.

“It is a precautionary measure against the transmission of the virus that may occur when the MotoGP participants arrive from abroad. They will undergo the PCR swab tests at their respective lodgings,” Tjahjanto added. [antaranews]
