RI HAS BEEN CONFIRMED TO HAVE THE RIGHTS TO HOLD MOTOGP 2022: SANDIAGA

MINISTER of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said that Indonesia (RI) had been confirmed to have the rights to hold the 2022 MotoGP in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), after the signing of the cooperation agreement with Dorna Sports.

“With the cooperation of all parties, hopefully March 18-20 (the main MotoGP event) will run successfully and smoothly,” said Sandiaga Uno at the Weekly Press Briefing, in Jakarta, Monday (2/21).

On that occasion, Sandiaga Uno expressed his appreciation to the NTB Regional Government for moving quickly to anticipate a significant increase in accommodation and transportation prices due to the MotoGP event.

On Thursday (2/17) the Governor of NTB Zulkieflimansyah issued Governor Regulation No. 9 of 2022 concerning the Implementation of Accommodation Services Business which also regulates the upper and lower limits of lodging rooms related to international events, including the international motorcycle racing event.

“This is so that the news is not confusing, so that it is detrimental to tourists for the 2022 MotoGP title. The governor’s regulation explains that the lodging zone closest to MotoGP activities is allowed to increase room rates three times,” said Sandiaga Uno.

For outer zones, he continued, the tariff increase is a maximum of two times and the zone farthest from the event area is a maximum of one time.

In addition, he stated that in Gili Samena, NTB, 98 tourism residential facilities (sarhunta) were built which will later be equipped with sea and land shuttles to watch MotoGP with a package offer that is very affordable.

“There is also a glamping facility (a type of tent) that I have reviewed and will increase the capacity of about two thousand people because there will be 1,000 tents which will also be equipped with 75 glamping by Eiger and Kelana,” said Sandiaga Uno. [traveltext.id]
