SINCE February 16, 2022, the Indonesian government has issued a new policy related to reducing quarantine time for Indonesia’s Overseas Traveler (PPLN), from 5 days to 3 days. This rule is conveyed through circular letter (SE) 7/2022 where the quarantine reduction requirement applies if the PPLN has received the full vaccine plus a booster vaccine. This reduction is certainly an opportunity for the tourism sector to rebound.
According to AB Sadewa, Corporate Secretary of PT Panorama Sentrawisata Tbk said Panorama (PANR) as a tourism player is preparing to capture the momentum of the 2022 Eid holiday where this year there will be 3 holiday seasons: Lebaran in May – school holidays in July – Christmas New Year in December. In 2022, the shift in the time of Eid, which is almost two months away from school holidays, creates more opportunities for people to vacation.
“We have started preparing to enter the booking season or tour package sales period for the 2022 Eid period, we have set a target to dispatch around 2000 to 3000 people until May, then we will focus on the school holiday period with the latest tour packages,” said AB Sahadeva.
The Government’s decision to reduce the quarantine time for foreign travelers, both Indonesian citizens and foreigners, from 5 days to 3 days is an indicator of good handling of the Omicron variant in Indonesia. Previously in the Nataru 2021 holiday period, Panorama’s performance was constrained due to the Omicron variant spreading in December last year, even though throughout October to November 2021, many group bookings were recorded for year-end Eid.
Panorama prepares various tour packages with tourist-friendly destinations (without quarantine and easy visas) to various countries such as: Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, Dubai, the United States, as well as several European countries such as: Switzerland, Spain, Austria, Netherlands, France.
In addition, Panorama also continues to sell domestic tourism products to various destinations such as Lake Toba, Labuan Bajo, Lombok, Bali as well as natural tourism products (ecotourism) and community-based tourism such as to tourist villages. In addition, PANR is also selling the Mandalika MotoGP watching package which will be held in March.
“We hope that the pent-up demand and market enthusiasm will be maintained throughout the first semester holiday period of this year. Of course, regulations in favor of tourism will be a boost for the Company to pursue recovery towards pre-pandemic performance. This is a breath of fresh air at the beginning of 2022 for the Company and the tourism industry in general,” Sadewa remarked.
The Indonesian government continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation and if everything is controlled, quarantine can be completely removed for PPLN both Indonesian citizens and foreigners in April. This will certainly be a recovery momentum for Panorama, especially the Inbound pillar or the pillar that brings in foreign tourists. [traveltext.id/photo special]
