THE INDONESIAN government will impose a trial without quarantine for foreign travelers (PPLN) to Bali on March 14, 2022.
“The government will also conduct a trial without quarantine for PPLN coming to Bali and it is planned to take effect on March 14 with several conditions,” said Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment as well as PPKM Coordinator for Java and Bali Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan in an online press statement on the results of the PPKM results. in Jakarta, Sunday (2/27).
According to Luhut, the trial without quarantine can even be implemented before March 14, 2022 if there are positive developments in the next week. The reason is, the government also sees the trend of cases in Bali getting better in the last few weeks.
“Our target is March 14, 2022, we can accelerate it by one week if in the evaluation next week, the trend of cases shows improving results,” he added.
There is also a requirement to be able to enter Bali without quarantine, namely PPLN who come must show payment for hotel bookings for a minimum of four days. Meanwhile, Indonesian citizens must show proof of domicile in Bali.
The incoming PPLN must also have received a complete or booster vaccination. PPLN must also carry out an entry PCR test and wait in a hotel room until a negative test result comes out.
“After being negative, PPLNs can move freely with the health protocols still being applied. PPLNs must also return to do PCR tests on the third day at their respective hotels. “This is actually for our mutual safety,” he said.
Meanwhile, international events held in Bali during the trial period without quarantine will apply the provisions of daily antigen testing to all participants without exception.
“In addition, there will be a revocation of the obligation to have a guarantor sponsor for tourist e-visa requests because it is considered burdensome for foreign tourists who will enter,” he explained.
Luhut added that Bali was chosen as the pilot project location because the general second dose vaccination rate recorded was already higher than in other provinces.
However, he continued, in the preparation period towards March 14, we will continue to accelerate the second dose of the elderly booster. The government will expand the no-quarantine policy across Indonesia if the Bali trial is successful.
“If the trial in Bali goes well, we will expand the no-quarantine policy throughout Indonesia starting April 1 or earlier than April 1, 2022. But again, this policy will be enforced based on data on the development of the pandemic going forward,” concluded Luhut. [antaranews/photo special]
