THE MINISTER of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, confirmed that there will be 168 additional flights with a capacity of 29,300 seats to support the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia which will take place at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara on 18-20 March 2022.
“The government is making maximum efforts in the transportation sector, especially the air route for the success of the Mandalika 2022 MotoGP title,” said Budi Karya Sumadi during a press conference at the Media Center Indonesia (MCI) MotoGP Mandalika 2022 in the Pertamina Mandalika Highway Circuit area, Friday (3/18).
He said the additional flights were one of the extra flights to Lombok as many as 135 flights with a capacity of 25,000 seats. The additional flights will be carried out for three days from 18-20 March 2022, in collaboration with all flight operators and airports.
“This is an international event, we must be proud, and appreciate Mr. President Joko Widodo who has brought it to Lombok. Not only for Lombok but for Indonesia,” he said.
This effort, continued Minister Budi, is in accordance with the direction of President Joko Widodo, who strongly emphasizes the importance of smoothness of all modes of transportation at the Mandalika MotoGP, including the air transportation sector. The Ministry of Transportation is also committed to carrying out the President’s orders as well as possible.
“So if the air is around 100-135 flights for three MotoGP days,” Budi said while confirming that the additional flights were for busy routes to Lombok from Jakarta, Surabaya, Makassar and Bali.
