THE INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy met the Singaporean Ambassador to Indonesia, Anil Kumar Naya, to discuss a number of matters related to the preparation for the opening of the Indonesia-Singapore border, at a meeting held at Radisson Golf & Convention Center Batam, Riau Islands, Thursday (3/31).

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, there are a number of points agreed between Indonesia and Singapore regarding the plan to open the border between the two countries.

“We discussed strategic steps on how we can present policies that make it easier for the people of Singapore and Batam to travel, especially to revive the economy,” he said.

One of the steps to attract tourist arrivals from Singapore, he continued, is to present quality events in the Riau Islands, especially in Batam.

“We will frame this event later in the Kharisma Event Nusantara, there are several programs and event activities including Wonderfood Art & Ramadhan Bazaar, Malay Art Kenduri, and there will also be several activities in Bintan and we will collaborate with the community,” he said.

During the meeting, Sandiaga said that both parties had agreed to remove the quota restrictions on visits by Singaporean tourists to Indonesia. The quota (visitors of Singaporean tourists to Indonesia) is no longer enforced. [traveltext.id]
