INDONESIA’S TOURISM SECTOR IN Q2 IS PREDICTED TO BE EVEN MORE BRILLIANT

IT IS predicted that the country’s tourism sector in Q2 (second quarter) 2022 will be even more brilliant in tandem with the better handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Tiket.com, Gaery Undarsa in a press conference, Monday (4/11) said that the relaxation of regulations for the opening of travel access from outside to the country also helped the tourism sector to return to excellence after in the first quarter of 2022 it began to grow.

“This second quarter will be more interesting than the first quarter. Why? Because in the first quarter we still experienced a surge in Omicron cases in January and February, tourism will only develop again in March. Now for this second quarter in April-June, the momentum is right because after last Ramadan Lebaran, there is a school holiday,” said Gaery.

Furthermore, Gaery remarked during this school holiday, it seems that family travel will increase. This is because in Indonesia, school children have returned to face-to-face meetings and of course a physical vacation is needed to refresh the children.

He is also optimistic about the potential for developing Indonesia’s tourism, considering that there will be quite a number of foreign tourists taking revenge travel or vacations to pay for the two years of restricted tourist access due to the pandemic.

“My prediction is that more international tourists will come to Indonesia along with the relaxation of international tourism regulations, meaning that there will be an increase in international tourists entering Indonesia. Bali is definitely a favorite destination, but make no mistake because Indonesia’s tourist destinations outside Bali are also now in the spotlight,” Gaery noted.

Meanwhile, in terms of air travel by plane, tiket.com has increased by 93%. Meanwhile, land travel increased by 275%, and for lodging and hotel accommodation reservations, it increased by 80%.

Gaery added that this is history for Indonesian tourism, because after the last two years experiencing difficulties due to restrictions on activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, finally, Indonesian tourism slowly began to rise.

Seeing developments in the first quarter of 2022 which showed positive results, Gaery is therefore optimistic that in the second quarter of Indonesian tourism can achieve increasingly brilliant results. [antaranews/photo special]
