MINISTRY READY TO LAUNCH TOURISM SIDE EVENTS FOR THE G20 PRESIDENCY 2022

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy will launch tourism and creative economy side events at the G20 Indonesia in 2022 to support the implementation of the G20 Presidency activities in Indonesia. The G20 Indonesia side events in 2022 are expected to have a broad impact on the community because their implementation will involve tourism and creative economy actors.

“The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is ready to play a role and contribute actively through various events that support the implementation of the G20. The G20 will have more impact on the tourism community and the creative economy if we multiply side events and manage them,” said Minister of Tourism, Sandiaga Uno in “Weekly”. The launching of tourism and creative economy side events at the G20 Indonesia in 2022 is planned to be held at the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta, Wednesday (4/20). There are two categories of side events that will be launched later, namely substantive side events and non-substantive side events.

Substantive side events are programs that are in line with and related to the issues of the Tourism Working Group of the G20 Presidency of Indonesia. Meanwhile, non-substantive aims to promote Indonesian tourism destinations.

Substantive side events include the “Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) Conference 2022” with the theme “Catalysing Action Towards the Asian Decade”. This is a gathering of Asian investors and resource providers around the world to share knowledge, build strategic partnerships, and address socio-economic challenges on a large scale “AVPN Conference 2022” will be held for 4 days on 21 – 24 June, at the Bali International Convention Center (BICC).

The second side event is the “International Wellness Tourism Conference & Festival (IWTCF)” with the theme “A Sustainability Strategy for The World Tourism Recovery and Growth Through Wellness Tourism for All”. The event, which takes place on August 5-7 in Solo/Surakarta, Central Java, will showcase and promote Wellness Indonesia tourism destinations and products.

The third side event is the “World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE)” with the theme “Inclusively Creative: A Global Recovery”. This is a collaboration forum between countries to increase awareness of the importance of the creative economy industry strategy. This conference will take place on October 5-7 at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) in the form of a hybrid meeting with an expo format and inspirational session, a gathering of creative economy friends, ministerial level meetings, and a gala dinner.

Meanwhile, for non-substantive side events, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy offers tour packages (excursion & pre/post tour) for the delegates of the Indonesian G20 Presidency.

“The series of side event and road to events programs from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy at the G20 Indonesia Presidency in 2022 are an effort to increase the number of delegates/participants to attend and participate in main events and side events,” said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga.

Sandiaga hopes that the G20 Presidency side event will be a momentum for economic revival, creating the widest possible business and job opportunities.

“I hope that all stakeholders can work hand in hand to make the side events and Road to G20 Presidency Indonesia successful,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Deputy for Tourism Products and Event Organizers (Events) Rizki Handayani said, on that occasion, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will also introduce several other events such as the Indonesian Creative Appreciation (AKI), Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN), and others which are also part of efforts to support G20 Indonesia 2022.
