MINISTRY PREPARES CIRCULAR ON CHSE IN DESTINATIONS FOR INCIDENT MITIGATION

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy explicitly asks the managers of tourist destinations and creative economy centers to strengthen the factors of cleanliness, health, safety, and environmental sustainability (CHSE) and their supervision in order to provide security and comfort for tourists and the public.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno was conveyed related to incidents that occurred in tourist destinations during the 2022 Eid holiday. One of them was the incident that occurred in Kenjeran Park, Surabaya, East Java in the “Weekly Press Briefing” which was held in a hybrid manner from the Sapta Pesona Building, Monday (5/9) afternoon said that first of all I express my deep concern and sympathy to the victims.

“Strengthening these CHSE aspects is an important thing to be noticed by destination managers and creative economy centers and we have continued to convey this since we entered the preparation for the 2022 Eid holiday,” said Sandiaga.

Minister Sandiaga asked the managers of tourist destinations and creative economy centers to really pay attention to this. Currently, Tourism Minsitry is preparing a circular for all stakeholders in the tourism and creative economy sectors to review and re-strengthen aspects of CHSE-based tourist service standards.

“What happened in Kenjeran Park, of course, was an aspect (CHSE) that had not been implemented strictly and disciplined. So, we will issue a circular for every tourist destination manager to ensure that CHSE re-inspection. Especially if there are technical aspects that (so far) is not paid much attention,” Sandiaga noted.

Sandiaga emphasized that his party would not hesitate to recommend tourist destinations and creative economy centers that do not pay attention to the safety and convenience of visitors to close.

“Currently the Ministry team continues to monitor and evaluate. And we remind all parties, especially across ministries/agencies as well as at the local government level and the community in general so that this incident will not be repeated in any tourist destinations in the future,” he remarked.

He explained, we will not hesitate to come soon and carry out inspections in the field as well as in collaboration. We will continue to provide updates regarding the handling of this crisis which we will continue to inform.

Meanwhile, the Deputy for Industry and Investment, Henky Manurung, said that in the near future his party through the tourism crisis management team will also inspect the Kenjeran Park destination in Surabaya, East Java.
