STRENGTHENING ‘DO & DON’T’ INFORMATION FOR TOURISTS IN DESTINATIONS

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy will strengthen information about what tourists should and shouldn’t do (do and don’t) when visiting destinations and creative economy centers in the country.

This is related to several things that are not in accordance with the norms carried out by foreign tourists, for example in a number of tourist destinations in Bali in recent times.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in the “Weekly Press Briefing” which was held in a hybrid manner from the Sapta Pesona Building, Monday (5/9) afternoon. That in the midst of these efforts of course there is wisdom as well as respect for local customs. This must be continuously conveyed and disseminated.

“Several steps will be taken, including the dissemination of information through various media channels owned by the Ministry of Tourism. Including by maximizing algorithms on social media so that the information conveyed is right on target.

And also, by inviting all relevant parties to participate in disseminating information, including destination managers and tour guides.

“Hopefully we can continue to socialize to tourists that there are norms that must be maintained, and this is what we must do education because maybe in their country of origin such norms do not apply. We must do this education with full guidance so that this also does not damage our reputation in hospitality and of course in our economic recovery,” said Sandiaga.

Meanwhile Secretary of theTourism Ministry, Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani added that there is a tourism code of ethics that must be a reference for everyone. Not only for destination managers/owners, but also tourists.

“This is of course a shared task. Not only the government but also all stakeholders (pentahelix) in the tourism sector and the creative economy,” she said.

Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani explained that there are do’s and don’ts that must be obeyed by tourists in a place, but the duty of the host is also to convey what is allowed and what is not. Maybe this is a bit lacking, perhaps what is in the destination so that the manager is then the guide as well, the media can also help in this matter, so all stakeholders should be involved in this. Of course, tourists will voluntarily comply if we have done the education.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Communications Bureau, I Gusti Ayu Dewi Hendriyani, invited the media to participate and help disseminate this information.

“Of course, we from the government will try through media relations to provide socialization as well as what can and cannot be done when in a destination. In Bali and various other areas there are customs that must be informed earlier to tourists when visiting a destination. Of course, this will happen in collaboration with all parties,” Dewi finished.
