MINISTRY COLLABORATES WITH OTA TO ENCOURAGE TOURISM RECOVERY SECTOR

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy is collaborating with one of the global travel platforms or digital travel agents (OTA), Agoda to help stimulate the recovery of tourism in Indonesia.

The cooperation was marked by the signing of a multi-year agreement by Acting Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani with Agoda CEO John Brown virtually and witnessed by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno.

“We believe the industry will recover, returning to pre-pandemic levels as vaccination distribution increases, cases decline, and border restrictions are eased. Most importantly, we see this moment as an opportunity to positively help share the future of the industry, which has never happened before,” Ms. Wayan said in a press release, Saturday (5/14).

Through the signing of the agreement, both parties agreed to increase brand awareness of the Wonderful Indonesia initiative through joint promotion efforts on the landing page, digital promotion through owned channels, technical consultation, sharing expertise, and so on.

The three-year agreement is designed to develop Indonesia’s tourism marketing and creative economy so that it can ultimately revive the country’s travel landscape.

According to Ni Wayan Giri Andyani, this digital travel platform partner has technological advantages and marketing optimization. These advantages, he continued, will help his party to encourage awareness of the diversity and beauty of Indonesia among tourists, both local and foreign.

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy also has great interest in partnering with international platforms to voice the message of “re-opening” to global tourists. This is because Indonesia has opened more than 20 arrival gates and lifted all quarantine requirements for tourists who have been fully vaccinated, in order to boost international tourism.

“In addition, the government has also re-imposed a visa-free program for ASEAN citizens visiting Indonesia,” she concluded. [traveltext.id]
