This is evident from several reports received from the tourism village manager directly or from media colleagues regarding the increasing number of tourist visits in tourist villages during the Eid holiday.

“So, during the Idul Fitri holidays to facilitate going home, I was given the task by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture to be involved in the management of homecoming management. Several tourist destinations are visited by many, including Borobudur, which is one of the Super Priority Destinations. It was noted that there was a 100% increase in the occupancy of the Tourism Village homestays around the Borobudur Temple.

“Seeing this potential, we are proud to promote the top 50 tourist villages of ADWI 2021 (Tourism Village Award) through social media, YouTube channels and several national television media in broadcasting travel programs in tourist villages,” said Minister Sandiaga.

In order for tourist villages in each tourist destination to continue to develop, Sandiaga appealed to local governments and tourist village managers to remain strict and disciplined with health protocols, seek Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) certification, seek sustainable tourism village certification, and give appreciation to the community driving the tourism sector through ADWI.

Sandiaga also encouraged the local government and tourism village managers to implement a waste management assistance program. Because if there are many visitors, there is also a lot of waste, therefore we must manage it better. []
