TOURISTS UP, AIRLINE TICKET PRICES INCREASE DUE TO REVENGE TRAVEL

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy responded to rising domestic and international airline ticket prices. Currently there is a phenomenon of revenge travel due to the increasing number of tourists traveling but it is not comparable to airplane seats.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, Wednesday (6/8), said this had caused flight ticket prices to soar and become unaffordable for tourists. If the flight capacity increases, the price of automatic airline tickets will also decrease.

“Currently, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has prioritized flights from five countries. The five countries are Australia, Britain, France, Singapore and the United States which contributed the greatest number of tourists to Bali,” said Sandiaga Uno.

It is said, for information, the price of airline tickets for the Jakarta-Singapore routes some time ago had touched IDR12 million to IDR14 million for one flight. Meanwhile, domestic flight ticket prices for the Jakarta-Bali route had touched IDR1.2 million to IDR1.4 million.

The airlines argued that the increase in ticket prices was due to an increase in aviation fuel prices, so there was an adjustment in ticket prices. [sources/photo special]
