AIRASIA OPENS BALI ROUTE TO MEDAN-BALIKPAPAN AND MEDAN-BANDUNG

AIRASIA has launched three new domestic routes, namely Balikpapan-Bali, Medan-Bali and Medan-Bandung round-trip for travel starting in July 2022.

“We are very excited to open direct routes for Medan-Bali, Balikpapan-Bali, and Medan-Bandung,” said AirAsia Indonesia president director Veranita Yosephine in a statement, Monday (6/13).

“These four destinations are cities that have tourism with beautiful panoramas and so many natural resources that attract foreign tourists. This also encourages us to continue to optimize the provision of air connectivity accessibility in line with the increasingly conducive situation of the pandemic in Indonesia,” she said.

The launch of these three routes is a significant momentum for AirAsia which is expected to encourage visits from and between the regions of Bali, North Sumatra, East Kalimantan and West Java through the connectivity it offers.

The Medan-Bali route is AirAsia’s new route which will open direct connectivity between Bali and Medan for the first time after the pandemic. This route is expected to make it easier for foreign tourists in Bali to also visit North Sumatra and explore various leading destinations such as Lake Toba, Bukit Lawang and Nias Island, or continue to Banda Aceh via Kualanamu.

In addition, the Medan-Bandung Route will return to serve residents in both cities to make it easier for students to return to campus to welcome the new academic year, along with the implementation of face-to-face learning at various main campuses in Bandung and its surroundings.

On the other hand, AirAsia has added Balikpapan to its network and is the 15th AirAsia destination to reopen in Indonesia. AirAsia customers in Balikpapan will be able to connect directly to Bali or continue to various international destinations connected to Bali such as Perth, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore.

“Of course, we hope that the development of connectivity for tourism destinations can be a positive step for economic movement in the Bali, Balikpapan, Bandung, Medan and surrounding areas. We also hope that the route that connects between these favorite cities can make it easier for tourists to explore tourism potential that has not been fully explored. So that slowly our economy will rise and grow,” concluded Veranita Yosephine.

She hopes that public enthusiasm for this route will continue to increase so that it can continuously increase its frequency or open routes in other destinations in Indonesia. [antaranews]
