DIGITAL NOMAD VISA ENTERS FOR FOREIGNERS ITS FINAL STAGE OF DISCUSSION

THE discussion of digital nomad visas for foreign nationals (foreigners) who want to work while on vacation in Indonesia has reached its final stage.

“We have reached the final stage of the discussion, we will continue to coordinate with related friends, and we hope this can be one of the breakthroughs in regulations,” said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in the Weekly Press Briefing which was held hybrid, Monday (6/6). /27).

He added that in the near future, his party will immediately provide updates (latest info) regarding the certainty of the nomad digital visa rules. As for the new type of visa, which was created to respond to the flow of digitization and behavior patterns of remote workers, it is planned to be valid for five years.

The goal is that Indonesia can attract more tourists who have a long stay or length of stay.

Minister Sandiaga said that the phenomenon of work from anywhere (working remotely or from anywhere) was not only happening in Indonesia, but also throughout the world. From the survey results related to digital nomads, he continued, it was recorded that as many as 95% made Indonesia, especially Bali, the first destination for remote workers.

He added that the digital nomad visa policy was also in line with efforts to achieve the target of 1.5 million foreign tourists (tourists) to travel in Bali.

“I also hope that the quality of foreign tourist visits to Bali can reach between 50 and 60%, with a longer length of stay and a higher quality of spending. Thus, it is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy,” he remarked.

Sandiaga continued that we will continue to perform orchestration and synchronization so that future promotion plans for Bali will become the top of mind of foreign tourists. We will also continue to hold international events and support Bali as a workcation area (working while on vacation) for digital nomads with a long and quality length of stay with the facilities that we provide.
