TRAVELLING TO VENICE ITALY, TOURISTS WILL BE SUBJECTED TO TICKET ADMISSION

THE VENETIAN government announced that going forward, tourists will have to pay for admission and make reservations to witness the exoticism of their city’s canals. Quoted from Euro News, the official date tourists must make a reservation is January 16, 2023.

This regulation has actually been proposed since three years ago, but has only recently been implemented. Entrance tickets will be valid for tourists who come just to visit, but not for those staying overnight in Venice. Therefore, tourists who stay overnight are considered to have paid tourist taxes.

However, all tourists who come will still be asked to book or register their visit. The entrance ticket system is expected to alleviate the problem of overtourism, aka a booming tourist visit, which in turn disturbs mutual comfort.

Although the entry ticket rules are enforced, the local council insists there will be no limit on the number of visitors. However, an adjustment in the price of admission may apply if the number of visits reaches a certain number.

The price of the Venice entrance ticket will vary, between 3-10 Euros (equivalent to IDR15,000-IDR157,000), depending on the season when you visit. In busy seasons, visitors will of course have to pay higher tickets. Especially if the number of visitors is considered to exceed the threshold. [kompas.com/photo special]
