TOURISM AWARENESS CAMPAIGN & MARKETING IN SIX PRIORITY DESTINATIONS

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy launched the Tourism Awareness Campaign (KSW) as well as Training and Development of Online Marketing and Improvement of Service Quality at 6 Priority Tourism Destinations as an effort to encourage increased participation of the community and local businesses in the tourism sector.

The launch or Kick Off was carried out during the Weekly Press Briefing at the Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, Monday (7/18). In addition to the Tourism Awareness Campaign program, other programs will also be implemented, namely Online Marketing Skills Training and Development and Service Quality Improvement for local businesses in the tourism sector in 4 Super Priority Destinations, namely Lake Toba, Borobudur-Yogyakarta-Prambanan, Mandalika, and Labuan Bajo, as well as 2 Priority Tourism Destinations namely Bromo-Tengger-Semeru and Wakatobi.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno explained that in the implementation of the KSW program, tourism village cadres will be selected. They will be given training and assigned to develop their respective village development plan projects. Then the participants will also be assisted in its implementation.

The implementation of the Online Marketing Skills Training and Development program and Service Quality Improvement will be carried out through the stages of training needs analysis, training program design, training implementation, as well as monitoring and evaluation.

“We want to increase human resources in the era of Society 5.0 as well as improve the quality of service so that tourists can enjoy their visit. So we must focus on preparing people who are aware of developments, increasing local businesses using online services and efforts to increase their ratings,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Acting Deputy for Resources and Institutions of Tourism Ministry, Frans Teguh at the launch, explained that this KSW program has actually been carried out routinely. However, considering that there is support from the World Bank, we have made preparations for a more sustainable tourism awareness campaign scheme, divided into 4 stages, namely socialization, training, mentoring, and appreciation.

“This stage will be carried out on a multi-year basis (in 2022-2023) to strengthen the linkage of the local economy with tourism. This activity is dedicated to Priority Tourism Destinations through various methods, especially with the modules that we prepare. We also encourage the active participation of local governments in tourism development in their respective villages, as well as registration of local village champion candidates,” he noted.

Frans firmly explained that the Tourism Awareness Campaign program will focus on implementing Sapta Pesona Era Society 5.0, Excellent Service, and Health protocol discipline Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE).

Likewise, the Director of Tourism Human Resources Development at Tourism Ministry, Florida Pardosi, added that the two programs involved local communities and business actors in the 6 DPP areas, involving at least 6,500 people for KSW and +7,700 Local Business Players for the Online Marketing and Quality Improvement Training and Development program. “We have conducted socialization of KSW since March 2022 in 65 tourist villages in 6 Priority Tourism Destinations areas using 3 modules, namely Sapta Pesona, Prima Service, and CHSE. Meanwhile, during the training there will be 14 modules. We have also coordinated with the local Tourism Office, so that later we can oversee it, especially in recruiting participants to the next stage, namely training and implementing village development projects,” he concluded.
