MINISTRY TARGETS TOURISM TO ABSORD 4.4 MILLION NEW WORKERS BY 2024

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy targets the absorption of new workers in the tourism sector to reach 4.4 million by 2024. It is hoped that this employment can improve the welfare of the community.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, Sunday (10/16) said employment in the tourism sector, has a fairly large chain impact on increasing people’s economic income. In addition, it can also increase the absorption of job opportunities up to six times.

“The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in 2022 targets the absorption of 1.2 million jobs and by 2024 as many as 4.4 million. We believe that the tourism sector can contribute to the community’s economy and be able to overcome unemployment,” said Sandiaga Uno.

Our party, he continued, focused on improving the welfare of the community with various innovations and policies to develop the tourism sector by involving stakeholders, including the community.

Currently, he continued, the Ministry of Tourism is holding a competition for 50 tourist villages with the Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) accompanied by Bank Central Asia (BCA) and other communities. The implementation of the tourist village competition is a local wisdom that must be maintained and preserved. In addition, to stimulate tourism objects that were sluggish due to the pandemic.
