THE STRUCTURE OF JKT-BDG SPEED-TRAIN IS BUILT WITH EARTHQUAKE RESISTANT

PT KCIC revealed that the structure of the Jakarta-Bandung (Jkt-Bdg) Speed-Train (KCJB) building was designed to be earthquake resistant as a mitigation of potential earthquake disasters around the KCJB route.

According to President Director of PT KCIC, Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi said the structural design of the KCJB project was made to withstand various potential natural disasters, including earthquakes. In carrying out its construction, quality is always paid attention to so that development results function optimally.

“The KCJB infrastructure structure has taken into account the conditions in Indonesia where earthquakes frequently occur. The KCJB infrastructure structure is designed to be earthquake resistant and can have a service life of up to 100 years,” Dwiyana said in a statement in Jakarta, Friday (11/25).

The highest earthquake ever to occur in Java has a magnitude of 8.0. This condition has been anticipated in the construction of the KCJB structure so that it is able to withstand earthquakes that cause severe damage, cracks in the ground to landslides.

The construction of the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train project is carried out by considering the geological conditions along the route. The Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train Infrastructure Structure (KCJB) is designed to be earthquake resistant as a mitigation of potential earthquake disasters around the KCJB route.

Taking into account the reference earthquake zones and seismic conditions in Indonesia, KCJB infrastructure such as bridges, subgrades to tunnels along the alignment, are designed to have earthquake resistance of up to 8.0 to 9.0 on the Seismic Intensity Scale (equivalent to eight magnitudes). .

In addition to earthquake-resistant building structures, fast train facilities, in this case fast passenger trains (EMU) and fast inspection trains (CIT) are also equipped with disaster monitoring or disaster detection features.

“The design of a qualified building structure as well as train features capable of detecting disasters, are embedded for KCJB operational security. It is hoped that it can mitigate the impact if a disaster occurs,” Dwiyana remarked.

Regarding the earthquake that occurred in Cianjur on Monday 21 November 2022, Dwiyana said that the condition of the KCJB infrastructure structure was safe from damage due to the earthquake. [antaranews]
