IT IS hoped that it will be able to increase tourist visits and provide quality health tourism options, so as to accelerate economic revival, the Island of the Gods, Bali will be prepared and developed as a leading destination for health tourism or health tourism.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, Monday (11/28) revealed that all out the Government would prepare health tourism destinations, and now the Tourism Ministry has established the ‘Indonesia Health Tourism’ branding logo and the #SehatdanBugardiRumahSendiri and #DiIndonesiaAja campaigns so that they can be used. for health tourism stakeholders in Indonesia.
“The plan to develop health tourism in Bali is carried out in order to attract Indonesian people who usually seek treatment abroad to continue to seek treatment in Indonesia to get optimal health services. Because based on data from the Ministry of Health in 2021 there will be an economic leakage of around IDR161 trillion per year from Indonesians seeking treatment abroad,” he said.
The development of health tourism is a priority for the national strategy because it responds to the challenges faced by the Indonesian nation, namely post-pandemic health and economic recovery
The Government through Ministry of Tourism also continues to collaborate with Ministries/Agencies, associations, and other health tourism industries to implement the four pillars that have been agreed upon in developing health tourism namely medical tourism, fitness tourism, event-based health sports tourism, and MICE-based scientific health tourism.
“And Bali is a champion city and a hub for medical tourism as well as a complete destination with the potential for us to develop according to the pillars of health tourism,” said Sandiaga.
Sandiaga explained that apart from strengthening collaboration, the Ministry of Tourism had also made a number of efforts so that the tourism sector could be connected with the health sectors.
“Among them are compiling a National Action Plan (RAN) for Indonesian Medical Tourism and Wellness Tourism; support and encourage hospitals and clinics that already exist in Bali to be able to obtain a Minister of Health Decree as a medical tourism health service facility; support the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises program which is currently developing a Health Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Sanur; as well as as a quick win we urge each regional government to be able to form a collaborative entity body whose function is to coordinate, advocate and execute the policies and programs needed in the context of developing health tourism in their region,” he said.
For the Special Economic Zone, Sanur itself, there will be several health facilities including a hospital which will be developed. Of course, in collaboration with well-known institutions from several developed countries in the health sector. One of them is the Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins University.
He explained, we hope this will be able to accommodate more opportunities, not only for Indonesian citizens to get excellent health services, but also for tourists from abroad to visit Bali. So tourists not only enjoy the beauty of nature and culture but also feel a qualified health service.
“The Minister of Health also has various breakthroughs such as inviting our Diaspora, especially doctors who come from Indonesia but practice abroad, and of course those who have high knowledge can return to Indonesia to contribute to health-based tourism in Indonesia,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
