REGARDING the existence of inaccurate reports regarding the prohibition of Jetstar Airways from landing at Ngurah Rai International Airport Denpasar, Bali, last Wednesday, December 28, 2022.
According to a Jetstar spokesperson, Ms. Ingrid Just, Head of Communications and Corporate Affairs as clarification on the news material that has been circulating, said that we have replaced the aircraft serving the Melbourne-Bali route on Tuesday (12/27) 2022, with a larger Boeing 787 aircraft so that it can carry more passengers during school holidays in Australia.
“However, we haven’t had the chance to convey this to the authorities in Indonesia, so this is indeed an internal mistake on our part,” she said.
Ms. Ingrid Just explained that as soon as we became aware of this, we arranged for flight JQ35 to return to Melbourne. We have rebooked the service for passengers, to be able to fly on another flight schedule that has been properly approved by the authorities.
“We recognize that this incident has made our customers very uncomfortable. Therefore, we sincerely apologize for what happened. While customers wait for their new flights, we provide hotel room facilities and meal vouchers, and we also cover additional airport transportation costs,” she remarked.
She added, as a sign of gratitude for their patience, we have contacted the passengers of JQ35 and provided travel vouchers worth AU$200 or around IDR2.1 million per person.
“Internally, we are currently conducting further reviews to understand how Jetstar’s miscommunication could have occurred so we can prevent similar things from happening again in the future,” Ms. Ingrid Just concluded. [sources/photo special]
