MINISTRY INVITES TOURISTS TO WATCH THE WSBK 2023 EVENT IN MANDALIKA

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy supports the holding of the World Superbike (WSBK) Indonesian Round 2023 and invites the public and tourists to return to watch and enliven the international motor racing event so that it will have a broad impact on economic revival and job opportunities, especially in the Mandalika Super Priority Tourism Destinations.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno at the launch of the 2023 WSBK, Thursday (01/12) 2023 at the Hard Rock Cafe, Jakarta, said we invite the public to always welcome the holding of the World Superbike 2023 which is planned to take place on 3 to 5 March 2023 in Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

“During the 2022 season, the number of spectators who watched live at the Mandalika Circuit managed to break the highest record in the history of World Superbikes in various countries. Namely reaching 51,629 viewers so that it has a very significant impact on the tourism sector and the creative economy in West Nusa Tenggara,” he said.

He added that the hotel occupancy rate increased by an average of almost 100% and absorbed 6,900 workers. Central Lombok District Original Revenue (PAD) increased to IDR300 billion.

“(Sales) of our creative economy products have also increased so that it has also boosted the image of Indonesia’s tourism. So, I entrust our MSME booths to be presented again. Culinary and music festivals are also presented because tourism and creative economy activities in Lombok and NTB are greatly helped by WSBK,” said Minister Sandiaga.

Sandiaga on that occasion also invited PT Indonesia Tourism Development or Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), BUMN Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Management or The Mandalika to increase investment in terms of infrastructure and accommodation.

“With events that continue to roll on, especially since the story about Formula 2 and there are several car racing competitions, this will also increase the need for the number of hotels there besides the number of homestays there, which have been built by the government and partners for more than 1,000 units,” Sandiaga remarked.

The target, he continued is 4.4 million new jobs to be created in 2024. Hopefully WSBK will bring economic revival and employment as well as the welfare of the Indonesian people.

Meanwhile ITDC Director of Operations, Troy Reza Warokka said the WSBK 2022 race which was successfully held at the Mandalika Circuit last November had proven that Indonesia was capable of hosting international events.

“The number of spectators that touched more than 50,000 people at the WSBK 2022 shows the public’s enthusiasm for this world event and trust in safety, comfort, and facilities and infrastructure around the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit. Therefore, ITDC and MGPA are ready to return to holding the WSBK for the third time 3-5 March 2023 and are ready to show Indonesia’s ability to host the world-class WSBK event, this time opening a new season,” Troy noted.

The launch of WSBK 2023 today is also marked by the start of selling tickets to watch WSBK 2023.

“The 75% early bird discount sale applies to all ticket categories. People who want to watch the WSBK event can buy tickets online through the Xplorin, Loket.com, Tiket.com and MyTours applications before they run out,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
