ERICK THOHIR: THE SANUR BALI SEZ AIMS TO PROVIDE INCLUSIVE HEALTH SERVICES

STATE-Owned Enterprises Minister, Erick Thohir revealed that the development of the Sanur Special Economic Zone (SEZ) which integrates the health sector with tourism aims to provide inclusive health services, digital-based economic transformation, and a transition towards sustainable energy.

According to Erick, said Bali Island has great potential to become a center for medical tourism in Southeast Asia so that it has a broad impact on improving the economy of local communities.

“The Sanur Bali area was chosen not only for historical factors and the legacy of our first President, Soekarno, but also to reinforce the initial idea. With this Health SEZ, we are taking advantage of the beauty of Bali to serve patients to get world-class health services. This has increasingly globalized Sanur as tourism international health,” Erick said in an official statement in Jakarta, Monday (01/16).

Erick Thohir accompanied the Former 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarno Putri when visiting the SEZ in Sanur, Bali, Monday (16/1). The Sanur area, which was built based on the tourism vision initiated by the first President Soekarno to advance Indonesia on the international tourism stage, is being transformed by the Ministry of BUMN to become a comprehensive tourist destination that emphasizes health and tourism tourism.

In an area of 41.26 hectares, health facilities are being built in the form of international standard hospitals and clinics in collaboration with the largest hospital in the United States Mayo Clinic, revitalization of the Bali Beach Hotel or Grand Inna Bali Beach (GIBB), convention center, ethnomedicinal botanical garden, and a commercial center to accommodate Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Hotel Bali Beach or GIBB as one of the legacies renovated in Sanur SEZ is a hotel designed by Bung Karno which was built in 1963 and completed in 1966.

In the development of the Sanur SEZ which involves State-Owned Enterprises In Journey, Hotel Indonesia Natour (HIN), Nindya Karya, Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC), and PP, the number of rooms in the hotel will be increased from 246 rooms to 274 rooms with a more modern building and room concept. modern.

The transformation of the Sanur tourist area is the second revitalization effort carried out by Erick Thohir on Soekarno’s legacy. Previously, the State-Owned Enterprises Minister had also turned the Sarinah Trade Center, which was built by Bung Karno in 1962, into a place of collaboration for creative economy actors as well as a center for national MSMEs.
