SINGAPORE TO REMOVE COVID-19 RULES STARTING FEBRUARY 13, 2023

SINGAPORE has lift requirements for travelers entering the country starting February 13, 2023. Travelers who are not fully vaccinated will no longer need to present COVID test results or purchase coronavirus travel insurance from February 13.

Masks are also not required to be worn on public transportation, the health ministry said in a statement. This, as authorities downgraded the disease outbreak response level to “green” from “yellow”, indicating that COVID-19 is not threatening.

However, masks are still mandatory in healthcare settings, where there is interaction with patients and in patient-facing indoor areas.

“In Singapore, our COVID situation has remained stable over the past few months, despite increased travel during the year-end holidays and China’s shift from zero COVID,” said Lawrence Wong, deputy prime minister and co-chair of the virus taskforce.

About 80% of the city-state’s 5.6 million population has reached the minimum COVID-19 vaccination protection, and about half have had additional booster shots, according to health ministry data.

“The public can also delete the COVID-19 contact tracing app, and the government has removed identifiable data from its servers and databases,” said Health Minister Ong Ye Kung.

Since April last year, Singapore has lifted most COVID-19 restrictions with many international events returning to the city-state, attracting tourists and businesses. The Asian financial center expects the tourism sector to recover to pre-pandemic levels by 2024. [sources/photo special]
