FOREIGN TOURISTS VISITING RI MUST COMPLY WITH APPLICABLE REGULATIONS

IT IS emphasized that Indonesia (RI) is very open to receiving visits from foreign tourists, but these tourists must comply with the rules that apply here.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno at Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, Monday (03/06), 2023 responded to the deviant behavior of foreign tourists in Bali and in Ijen Crater, East Java. The behavior of tourists who change their motorcycle license plates with their own identity and do not comply with traffic rules in Bali and burn flares in the Ijen Crater cannot be tolerated and must be dealt with firmly.

“Moreover, lighting flares carelessly in tourist destinations is a form of violation of Law number 5 of 1990 concerning Conservation of Natural Resources, Biology and Ecosystems,” he said.

We, he continued, are very open to receiving foreign tourists and rolling out the red carpet for them. But they must comply with all existing laws and norms. We will take firm action if they break the law, we will ensure that tourists can do activities safely, comfortably, and pleasantly.

Sandiaga stated the Tourism Ministry will amplify the rules that must be obeyed by tourists. To that end, the Ministry is working with the Bali Provincial Government under the coordination of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) to increase socialization to foreign tourists to understand what activities they can and cannot do while in Indonesia.

“To overcome this problem, we must improve the implementation of control mechanisms through law enforcement. So, supervision and also enforcement from the police, we also coordinate with the Immigration and cross-ministry/agency and increase supervision and control on the role of business actors to foreign tourists and apply social sanctions,” he remarked.

One of the concrete steps taken by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga added, was the preparation of a decree (SK) of the task force for handling the situation of security and community order in Bali in the context of tourist activities.

“This will certainly also have an impact on quality tourism because quality tourists will also be disturbed by the behavior of tourists who violate the law,” Sandiaga noted.

Sandiaga reminded the tour guides to be firm if there are tourists who violate the rules, norms, and applicable laws. In the future, we will continue to socialize through social media and directly, we will also supervise more closely checking the luggage of climbers. [traveltext.id]
