DEPUTY Minister of Law and Human Rights (Wamenkumham), Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej said that foreign tourists in Bali who make trouble or act “naughty” by violating the rules may be deported according to applicable regulations.
“If they meet the criteria, they will be deported, we will deport them,” said Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights on the sidelines of the “Kumham Goes To Campus” event at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, Friday.
According to Eddy, the Wamenkumham’s nickname, his staff is conducting investigations regarding various violations of the rules for foreign nationals (foreigners) in Bali, including those who work illegally on the Island of the Gods.
He ensured that the government acted strictly according to the applicable law. Give us the opportunity to do research and so on. Everyone will act according to the rules in force.
In recent months, cases of problematic foreign nationals (WNA) and foreign tourists have come under the public scrutiny, especially those who violate the rule of law in Indonesia. For example, riding a motorcycle without papers and a helmet, driving recklessly, making fake KTPs, abusing residence permits, and working illegally.
“Everything is in the investigation stage, the investigation stage. It’s busy in Bali, isn’t it? From January to the second week of March 2023, there were 22 foreign nationals in Bali who were prosecuted by Immigration for violating immigration administration rules.
Of that number, Barron said Russian foreigners were the most violators with five people. During 2023 there were 22 foreign nationals who were subject to immigration administration actions, five of whom were Russian citizens. Indeed (that group) is the highest,” he said.
For the most recent case, the TPI Denpasar Class I Immigration Office deported a Russian citizen with the initials SR who abused his residence permit in Indonesia by working as a photographer in Bali. SR was deported to his country on Thursday (03/09) at around 13.00 WITA via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali. [antaranews]
