THE TRANSFER of flights from Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung to Kertajati Airport in Majalengka is a strategic thing.
“The transfer of flights from Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung to Kertajati Airport in Majalengka is a strategic thing because Bandung can be reached in a shorter time from Kertajati,” Sandiaga Uno said in a meeting with reporters in Jakarta on Monday (04/10).
This, he continued, is because Kertajati Airport has been prepared as a hub that connects West Java, especially since it is connected to the Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) Toll Road.
Moreover, Sandiaga said he had received certainty from several airlines for direct flights to Kertajati Airport. Meanwhile, Bandung Husein Sastranegara Airport has limited capacity and is located in the middle of residential areas.
In the future, Umrah departures from Kertajati Airport are being prepared, and facilities are under review.
“We support that Kertajati be developed into a hub that hopefully can attract tourists, apart from Ngurah Rai and Soekarno Hatta,” he concluded.
As previously reported, the Ministry of Transportation informed that Kertajati Airport, in Majalengka Regency, West Java is ready to serve Umrah charter flights on April 15, 2023.
“Of course, we welcome the stretch in the aviation industry, especially at Kertajati Airport. Especially with the support of the operational facilities of the Cisumdawu Toll Road which has been functionally opened,” said the Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Maria Kristi Endah Murni.
The Ministry of Transportation said that the demand for the departure of Umrah pilgrims continues to increase entering the Umrah season in Ramadan 2023, thus affecting the demand for charter flights by travel agents.
The Ministry of Transportation itself has ensured that the Cisumdawu Toll Road will soon be fully operational on April 15, 2023 so that it will further facilitate access from / to Kertajati Airport.
