LONG VACATION: TOURISM MINISTRY INVITES PEOPLE TO TRAVEL ONLY IN INDONESIA

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy in this long vacation invites the Indonesian people to travel in Indonesia rather than abroad.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in a meeting session with journalists Extended the Weekly Brief held in Jakarta, Monday (04/17) we invite the Indonesian people to travel in Indonesia instead of abroad.

“Yes, for Indonesian tourists traveling in Indonesia alone is the most correct. The situation of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia is currently more under control, and Indonesian tourist destinations are also increasingly ready to serve tourists,” he said.

He explained, I also appealed to them if they were very forced to travel in Singapore and Malaysia to really use health protocols because in the two countries, they no longer use masks.

This, he continued, needs to be done to protect themselves so that they do not bring new variants upon their return to Indonesia.

Although the government no longer imposes tests or checks, Sandiaga urged Indonesian tourists to ensure that they have received a complete dose of the COVID-19 vaccine including the second booster vaccine. This was conveyed, responding to the surge in COVID-19 cases that occurred in Singapore and Malaysia.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is targeted to target the travel of 1.4 billion Indonesian tourists or twice last year’s achievements in the Proud to Travel Indonesia (BBWI) Program.

“With the increasing number of visits to an area, it is hoped that the demand for local products or services will also increase. For example, Banten has many excellent tourist destinations. Create a travel pattern so that this destination is more attractive. Banten is a potential area to raise local wisdom to attract Jakarta residents,” he remarked.

It is hoped that these efforts can generate tourism revenue worth IDR3,281 trillion or equivalent to 18% of the nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP). [sources/photo special]
